Last month, the PfVIMT consortium gathered at Ifakara Health Institute for a series of scientific and operational meetings focused on ongoing and upcoming project activities.

Over three days, consortium members had the opportunity to:
🔬 review ongoing entomology and clinical trial activities,
🏥 visit clinical trial and laboratory facilities,
📍 conduct field visits to the Miono and Rupungwi satellite sites,
🤝 discuss project implementation, coordination and next steps.

These exchanges highlighted the importance of close integration between field activities, entomology, clinical research and operational planning in preparing future malaria vaccine trials.

A special thank you to Ally Olotu and the teams from IHI for hosting the consortium and sharing their expertise and field experience throughout the visit.

This visit also marked the final step of a broader series of consortium visits across partner institutions in Ghana (Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR), University of Ghana), Benin (Institut de Recherche Clinique du Bénin (IRCB)), Kenya (Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI)) and Tanzania — further strengthening collaboration and preparing the next phase of the project.
